  1. In Kenya, thousands of children leave school after 8th grade because their families can’t afford the small tuition cost, or their parents have died of disease, most often HIV. Without an education, these children face a bleak, impoverished future—especially the girls.

In response, the Kenyan Education Organization was formed to raise the $350-$650 it takes to send a child to school for a year. So far, they have been able to help 40 kids (mostly girls) go to school, 20 have graduated, and some are now in college. Two of their students did so well on their national high school exams that they gained automatic admission to universities and were eligible for scholarships.

For 2013, they need to raise enough money in the next two weeks for 15 kids they absolutely need to keep in school, and they have five more eager and very deserving kids who want to enter 9th grade.

Donations of any amount help and are greatly appreciated.

  2. A family of 5 with a past due electric bill $235. $75 will take them out of disconnect status. Car repairs set them back.they are homeowners just trying to make it
